James Hendricks Benches Unveiled
April 13, 2007
MediaRich associate and talented multimedia artist James Hendricks unveiled today his commissioned work on the VIA benches. The city’s Arts commissioners were there, along with VIA transit folks, to see and approve the installation.
Since James is our landlord, the MediaRich team has been privileged to watch the whimsical and servicable bus rider benches move from renderings to finished products over the course of the past year.
The benches combine poured concrete, smithed steel, paint, mosaic tiles and other media in ways that reflect San Antonio’s culture, history and sense of fun. Several other talented San Antonio artists were involved in their creation, including Henry Cardenas, Mark Kohnitz, Katie Pell, Rachman Ulmer, Troy Waddell and Bernice Williams.
MediaRich’s director of videography Rich Harrell was on hand; here are some of his photos.

Congratulations to our artist friends for making your milestone on this amazing project. We’re looking forward to the rest of the series getting installed. And kudos to the City for sponsoring art in public places. Go SA!
